Barack Obama: Raising Stalin’s Chicken, Hunting Franklin’s Lamb — by John Kirkwood
November 14, 2012 (http://bit.ly/THb6mG)
It was a brisk Moscow morning. The general could see his own breath as he entered the courtyard. Difficult as it was dangerous; discerning the mood of the premier was his top priority. Entering alone into a meeting with the General Secretary was less about privacy than it was the probability that Stalin didn’t want witnesses. Josef Stalin paced to and fro in the courtyard, letting out a wry smile when he noticed the young officer trying to mask the movement of his eyes that were scanning the perimeter. There would be no surprises lurking in the shadows on this day. An odd troika, they were truly alone – a diffident general, the premier of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, and a chicken.
As the general entered, Stalin barked at him to conceal the feeling that he actually saw promise in the man. That affection was the only reason that the shadows were empty. This would be a rare, teachable moment, a lesson on power and the will; a textbook study in the breaking of a reluctant subordinate.
Stalin took off his overcoat, handed it to the officer and then, eyes sparkling like a schoolboy at recess, the premier of the Soviet Union stalked a chicken. It did not take long. Given the size of the courtyard and the satisfaction on his face, this unknown skill was certainly a sense of pride.
Holding his prey by the neck, Stalin plucked the bird. It struggled, choking and clawing, yet unscathed and determined, the Secretary General continued the task. This too was a skill. Finished, Stalin held the now naked bird before the general until their eyes met; the proud hunter holding his trophy. Turning, he threw the bird into the middle of the courtyard. Taking his overcoat from the officer and putting it on, making sure to position himself on the periphery of the general’s view, he crossed his arms and waited, the befuddled bird central to their field of vision.
Remarkably, the bird sought out the man who had, moments before, torn it apart. It tried to nestle between the premier’s feet, seeking the shelter of woolen cuffs and overcoat. Without looking back, Stalin remarked, “As you see, general, we can take everything away from them and they will still crawl to us for warmth.” He threw a handful of grain to the bird, and it began to follow him, “This is the way to rule the people. Did you see how that chicken followed me for food, even though I had caused it such torture? People are like that chicken. If you inflict inordinate pain on them, they will follow you for food the rest of their lives.”
The general could not see Stalin’s face but he knew that his leader was pleased with his lesson. Stalin could not see the general’s face, but then he did not need to. The general would carry out his wishes now, and with no hesitation; his previous sensibilities to be swept off the courtyard floor with the scattered clumps of feathers.
Though the story may be apocryphal, it nevertheless reveals the heart of those who would use “democracy” as a vehicle to achieve their statist ends. Manipulating the system, a Marxist would take advantage of a nation’s weakened immune system and infect the body politic until the people themselves vote for their own demise.
Nearly a century and a half before Stalin’s courtyard lesson, Benjamin Franklin expressed the disdain that the Founder’s had for “Democracy” saying, “Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for lunch; liberty is a well-armed lamb.”
If this past election was not the result of voter fraud then the chickens now outnumber the lambs and the Reverend Jeremiah Wright was right when he implied an American reckoning as he crowed, “America’s chickens have come home to roost!” We have reached the proverbial tipping point.
Marxists do not like to relinquish power so Obama and the Democrats will pursue amnesty under the guise of “comprehensive immigration reform” to ensure a perpetual Democrat majority and 2010 may have been the last free election In America. If our system of constitutional republic with representation is either dead or an illusion, what will become of the well-armed lambs? What will happen if the wolves vote in those who reject our own founders for the inspiration of Stalin, Machiavelli and Alinsky?
Unlike a general election where the top of the ballot is generally the same, a mid-term is much harder for “comprehensive” voter fraud to take place because every ballot in every county is unique. If freedom loving Americans will not cave to the “kvetch and retreat” death spiral of the cynical, if we will unite and climb the steps for one more round, we can stop the two power grabs that will certainly end freedom in these United States: amnesty and the Supreme Court. Should President Obama pass an Amnesty bill or should he replace even one conservative justice in the Supreme Court prior to the midterm election, then the sun will have set on the American experiment.
Like all generations before, we have a choice. We will renew our devotion to Liberty or we will allow this President to strip us of our identity as a free people. If the lessons of history do not inform our sensibilities, if we do not heed the wisdom of our founders, if we do not act vigorously on behalf of our children and our children’s children, well, then – We’re plucked!
It’s your choice America! “Lamb-up” or lay down.
